Dynamo Minsk signed a beauty from the United States: she studied in Missouri, auditioned for a draft and came to Belarus for a dream – Girl of the day – Blogs
The women’s team of Minsk Dynamo has signed the American football player Abigail Nola-Marie Small, or Abby Small, as she is called in her homeland. At the club, the 175-centimeter foreign, who turns 22 in August, will play as a center-back and number 8 on her back. Most likely, Small was invited to Dynamo-BGUFK to replace center-back Claudia Vulania Dabd from Cameroon, who seriously injured his knee. Thus, the number of legionnaires among the “white-blue” has grown to five players in just six months after the creation of the team.
Last season, the girl performed in the UMKC Kangaroos. The team is a member of the NCAA – National Collegiate Athletic Association’s American Student Championship. In 2019, Small helped the UMKC win 13 victories in 19 matches and made the national team three times. Also, the defender was in the third symbolic team of the Pacific Rim universities for the second year in a row.
In total, the footballer played for UMKC for four seasons from 2016 to 2019. In total, the defender played 79 matches in which he scored nine goals.
And here are the best skills of the girl in four years of performances in the team.
In January 2020, Small was the first in the history of her varsity team to enter the NWSL draft (the strongest US league).
“I just focus on the things I know I can improve. I need to be prepared if I get the chance [оказаться в NWSL]… I feel like I have something to prove, given that most of the girls who contributed their names to the project came from high-profile schools like Stanford or North Carolina. “, – said the defender with optimism before the draft.
However, the reality turned out to be much more prosaic. Small did not make the list of 36 women drafted. Therefore, the American had to look for another option for career development, which turned out to be Dynamo-BGUFK from distant Belarus.
The expected agreement with the Minsk team became Abby’s first professional contract. On her Instagram, the girl thanked the former coaches with her teammates and admitted that the transition to the pro-level was a childhood dream for her.
This year, the girl graduated from the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. This was the main reason for which I had to leave the student team, which I gave four years.
Note that earlier in the women’s football in Belarus, no players with passports of North American countries were seen. The girl has a typical American appearance, which will certainly brighten up Belarusian football.
