More recently, he went out on the ice in a yellow and blue uniform, and Khimik fans idolized him. And Potaychuk himself in all interviews emphasizes that the audience support in Voskresensk was always at the proper level, and that he does not exclude the possibility of returning to his practically hometown. Now the 36-year-old striker defends the colors of our geographic neighbor, HC Dmitrov.

After it didn’t work out for me at Kuzn, there was an opportunity to move to Khimik, – says Potaychuk. – But due to certain reasons, our alliance with Voskresenye did not take place. In any case, I would like to express my gratitude to the management of “Khimik” for remembering me in difficult times, and to say hello to all the fans who remember me. “>

“>

– Well, how do you like the level of the major league?
“>

“>

– Frankly, I expected the worst. But in reality, everything turned out to be not so scary (laughs). But seriously, the level is quite decent. The only negative is paired matches. It’s hard. Some matches are as intense as Super League games. Take, for example, our fights with “Chemist” and “Torpedo”. And, in general, I do not see anything shameful in the fact that I am playing now in the second domestic division. Many Swedes played in the lower divisions during the lockout. And the defender Jorgen Junsson, if my memory serves me, has become the strongest defender of the World Championship. So it’s not about the level of the division, but about the quality of your own game. “>

– What did not work out for you at the beginning of the season in Novokuznetsk?
“>

– For me, this topic is closed, and I do not have the slightest desire to return to it. I can only say one thing: initially I should not have gone to Kuzbass. “>

“>

– Do you plan to settle down in HC Dmitrov for a long time?
“>

“>

– I have a contract with the club until the end of the season, but as far as I know, the management has a desire to extend the agreement with me for another year. Basically, I don’t mind. But, frankly, ideally I would like to return to the Super League. I feel the strength to play at a higher level for another year or two. “>

– The victory over the undisputed leader of the Torpedo division – 5: 2 made many talk about your team in complimentary tones …
“>

“>

– So we work, we do not sit idly by. Yes, and Nikolai Stepanovich Davydkin chases us in training – be healthy! I didn’t train like that in the Super League (smiles). So we were preparing very seriously for the auto plant, and we were all very happy after the end of the match that our preparation was not in vain. And the increased bonuses played an important role in our victory (laughs). “>

“>

“>

– In what way, at this stage, is HC Dmitrov inferior to the leaders of the division – Torpedo, Khimik and Almetka?

Absolutely nothing! I don’t know how the people of Dmitrov looked before my arrival, but now we are a well-coordinated team in all respects. Yes, there are inexplicable blunders in defense. But we are working on it, and hopefully we will soon eliminate this shortcoming.
As for our opponents, I can say the following: Almetka and Khimik practice open and technical hockey. Avtozavodtsy, on the other hand, are strong in their tactical game, in which each member of the team knows his role by heart. Plus, having such brilliant masters as Konstantin Shafranov and Alexander Golts available, they can decide the fate of the fight due to the episode. “>

“>

“>

– Which of the players of “HC“ Dmitrov ”, in your opinion, could play at a decent level in the Super League?
“>

“>

– Yes, many! You can’t list all of them. The same Alexander Trofimov, Sergey Zolotov, Yuri Kuznetsov, Alexey Deev, Andrey Kudashov, Viktor Lugovskoy would not be in the last roles in the Super League. Maybe they would not have pulled the role of leaders, but in the 3-4th link the weather would not have spoiled. “>

– What tasks do your team face in the current season?
“>

“>

– According to the results of the regular season, finish in the top four. I think we have actually solved this problem. And in the playoffs, the further we advance, the better. Firstly, we will delight the fans, and, secondly, we will work on our image. And, in general, everything in Dmitrov is excellent. Excellent conditions, excellent ice, good microclimate within the team. What more could you ask for ?! “>

– Is there no resentment left against Mytishchi “Chemist”
“>

– At first, what is there to hide, it was a little offensive. Still, at the end of that season, I became the team’s top scorer, was its captain, and in my heart I hoped that I would be offered a new contract. But Petr Vorobyov, who headed “Chemist”, did not show interest in my services, which was notified to me by the general director of the club, Leonid Vaysfeld. But the parting took place at a civilized level, so I have no complaints about “Chemist”. “>

– Do you follow the fate of Wings?
“>

“>

– It hurts and hurts me that a club with such traditions is shrouded in club contradictions every year. Everyone suffers from this: players, service staff, fans. In my opinion, the time has come to tie up with troubles, otherwise we will lose the legendary metropolitan club, where I began to take my first steps in big hockey. “>

– You are 36 years old. Age, by hockey standards, pre-retirement. Do you think about coaching for an hour?
“>

“>

– I don’t look so far yet. In Russia, becoming a coach is very problematic, and it is unlikely that anyone will be interested in me here. You can, for example, go to Finland and start working with young people there, especially since my knowledge of the Finnish language will allow me to convey my demands to my charges. There is an option to work in the agency field. My Czech agent Jiri Gamal is interested in me helping him in the Russian market. But I haven’t played hockey yet! Let’s talk about this in about two years (laughs). “>

“>

– With whom of the European players do you keep in touch?
“>

– From time to time we keep in touch with defender Lasa Kukkonen from “Chicago”. Before the start of this season, I regularly called goalkeeper Niklas Backstrom. But then he went to the NHL, to Minnesota, and we somehow lost sight of each other. Nevertheless, I follow his overseas fate, and I am very glad that after the injury of Manny Fernandez, Niklas had a chance to prove himself in all his glory. Trust me, he’s a very cool collar. I often exchange calls with my Finnish friends, who have nothing to do with hockey.

But with the Czech Republic, except for Gamal, nothing connects me. Although I still have the best memories of Sparta, for which I played. “>

“>

– What do you remember most from the European period of time?
“>

– Those were the best years of my life. I mean playing for Sparta and Karpyat. In the Czech Republic he was twice recognized as the best legionnaire, in one of the seasons he became a valuable player in the opinion of Sparta fans, in the Extra League All-Star Game he won the speed competition. There is also a good memory of “Karpät”. In our very first season in the SM-League, we got into the playoffs, a year later we won silver medals. The organization in Oulu was also top notch. The city itself is located in the north of Finland, one of the few in the league, therefore it was not deprived of attention from sponsors, in particular “ Nokia », And industrial companies. So in terms of play and everyday life, everything was “very good”. “>

-Is there a possibility that you will play in the Czech Extra League next season?
“>

– Yes, I’ve run over already. And it makes no sense to tear the family out of their homes. Daughters go to school. The eldest, who studies at the Finnish school under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (although only the “nine-year” school is functioning here), is in her last year, and one has to think about where to continue her education. Either here in Russia or in Finland. I have already talked with the manager of “Karpyat”, and he promised to help in finding a school. But the daughters, fortunately, have adapted to the Russian reality and they have no problems in the domestic sphere. Although at first, after a measured Finnish life, they could in no way adapt to the widespread bustle of Moscow. However, like my wife and I. As for hockey, it is possible that I would still go to Milos Rzhiga in Pardubice (smiles slyly). “>

– Are you generally satisfied with your hockey career?
“>

– It’s a sin to complain. In Europe I made a name for myself, I was in all the teams in the first roles. In Finland, the customs officers at the airports recognize me, shake hands, wish me luck. What to hide, very nice. The only thing I regret is that I did not go to the NHL, to Calgary. Many people then dissuaded me from moving overseas, motivating their position by the fact that they would offer me a bilateral contract, send me to a farm club, and I would have to knock around the lower leagues. And the terms of the contract offered to me, in all honesty, were not impressive. But now, from the height of the past years, I think that it was still worth the risk. I would have cooked in North American cuisine, gained new experience … And the years I spent at Khimik can be considered an asset. Especially, the first Sunday season, when the guys and I, after a disastrous start, managed to defend our place in the Super League. “>

“>

– I heard that initially in Russia you were not supposed to play for Khimik. And for CSKA …
“>

“>

– Here is how it was. In the 2002/03 season, for the New Year holidays, my family and I flew to Moscow, and I had a conversation with the general manager of the army team Valery Gushchin. He expressed interest in my services, while noting that I myself must resolve my relationship with “Karpät”. But I had another year of the current contract, so there was no reason to break up. At the same time, Khimik’s management also “courted me,” and as a result, it turned out to be more persistent in my acquisition, having bought my contract from the Finns.
At first, of course, I was shocked by the level of organization in Voskresensk. In Europe, after ten years of playing, I got used to the fact that a player should only think about hockey. And here in the locker room there was not even a washing machine … But over the past years, the infrastructure in Voskresensk has noticeably improved, and I was very pleased that now the Sports Palace meets all the necessary parameters. I was convinced of this personally when I came to the games with “Chemist” with my current team.
Honestly, after the team moved to Mytishchi, I thought that hockey in Voskresensk would die. But, thank God, the head of the city, Yuri Fedorovich Sleptsov, to whom I have great respect, found the means to keep the team. It was impossible to deprive the city of big hockey. Moreover, with such a history. And I am very glad and proud that I myself, in due time, personally came into contact with the legendary Sunday club. “>

– Do you have any wishes for the Sunday fans?
“>

“>

– Love your club, support it on all fronts, do not spare your vocal cords. Then get the Super League as a reward.
